Creative pieces require lots of different hats to make. Fortunately, I wear all of them. Whether you’re doing your first round of edits, need some help getting buzz about your backlist, or just want to schedule a talk to demystify how to get your story out there, I can help you.
Some projects need Editing:
Developmental Editing – This type of editing is useful after conducting your own edits. We as creatives have more information than our audiences do, so we may often forget to include things that they need to make sense of our stories. This kind of edit starts there, and focuses on:
- Point of View
- Setting/World Building
- Overall suspension of disbelief
Copyediting – This type of editing is useful after conducting a developmental edit, when you’re sure that your plot, characters, point of view, and other such major elements have all been squared away. This kind of edit focuses on:
- Sentence Structure
- Clarity of intent
- Fact Checking
- Uniformity with key terms, such as character and place names
Proofreading – This type of edit is the last kind a manuscript will undergo before publication. All changes have been made, and all that’s left is to make sure everything is precisely where it should be. It can be done before the book is designed, or after. This kind of edit focuses on:
- Uniformity of key terms
- Consistency in design elements
Manuscript Evaluation – Not sure which kind of edit your manuscript needs? I’ll give it a quick read at a reduced rate and let you know!
Other projects need design work
Interior book design – You know those books that are hard to read? Or that don’t fit on your ereader right? Let’s make sure your book isn’t one of those by giving it the interior design it deserves!
Lettering – Words need to go on the page in comics too! And since comics are an even more visual medium than novels, where they go on the page is even more crucial.
All projects need to reach their audience!
Marketing consultation – No idea who your audience is? Know who your audience is, but not how to reach them? Let’s talk about your story, your audience, and how to reach them—together! Launch events, social media, give aways, and blog tours! Let’s talk about it all!
Contact sourcing – You know who your audience is, and you know how to reach them, but now you have to talk to people to make it happen, and you have no idea who to reach out to?! That’s where I come in.
Promotional material creation – Bookmarks, flyers, power point presentations for the launch party or sales pitch. Whatever you need to get your story to your audience, I can help you make it.
Maybe you’re not sure what your project needs:
